Vehicle production last week in the US, Canada and Mexico was expected to hit an estimated 299,726 units, down 14.0% from the 348,691 cars and trucks built the previous week, according to wardsauto.com.

Including last week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 14,394,737 vehicles, up 0.4% from like-2004’s pace.
In the US, automakers were expected to produce 213,358 vehicles last week, down 15.3% from the 251,947 cars and trucks built the previous week. To date, calendar 2005 US vehicle output totals an estimated 10,635,066 units, up 0.3% compared to the 10,599,818 vehicles built in like-2004.
Last week’s Canadian vehicle production was estimated at 51,324, a decrease of 8.0% from the 55,781 units assembled the previous week. Estimated calendar 2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 2,320,182 units, down 2.4% compared to the 2,377,443 vehicles produced in like-2004.
Of the cars and trucks slated for production last week in the US, General Motors Corp. accounted for 25.5%; Ford Motor Co., 20.7%; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 13.0%; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 9.1%; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 8.2%; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 8.1%; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.9%; AutoAlliance International Inc., 1.9%; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 1.3%; BMW of North America Inc., 1.2%; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 1.0%; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 1.0%; and other manufacturers, 5.1%.
