BYD and Shell have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to improve charging avalability for battery electric vehicle (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) owners.
The collaboration starts in China and Europe and will extend to other regions.

For private and commercial customers, BYD and Shell will form a pan-European Mobility Service Provider (MSP) offering membership access to 275,000 charging points through the Shell network. Both companies will also jointly develop fleet products and depot charging services in Europe.
Both companies will provide integrated home energy products such as dynamic tariff scheduling, solar integration, home batteries and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) charging.
Both will consider building EV hubs in European countries offering charging and digital services developed jointly.
Customers will be offered participation in the Accelerate to Zero (A2Z) decarbonisation programme, which enables corporate fleets to reduce emissions to zero and net-zero across Europe.
The pair will collaborate on global research and development of battery performance and advanced charging.
Shell will help BYD achieve cost saving and better hardware performance with its E-Fluids and coolants.
Both parties also intend to form a joint venture to develop EV charging networks in China. The JV is expected to operate a network of 10,000 charging points in Shenzhen, China, with plans to expand.
