Krieger replaces Katsuhiko Satoh, who will become a member of the board and chairman. Satoh has been with Ford Japan for more than 10 years and has served as president since May 2002.
Krieger brings extensive marketing and sales experience to his new job. Prior to being named to his new post he was vice president of marketing, sales and service at Changan Ford, in Chongqing, China, a job he took up in May 2003.
Ford Japan at one time sold mostly rebadged Mazda models but has more recently concentrated on imported Ford-made vehicles from Europe and the US.
It recently switched its Explorer from right- to left-hand drive after Ford Australia dumped the model, making continued RHD production unviable.
