Car sales in Russia are expected to increase 7% year on year to 1.72m this year, PricewaterhouseCoopers partner Stanley Root told the Prime-Tass news agency on Wednesday.

In monetary terms, sales are expected to increase 21% to US$22bn this year, he said.
Sales of Russian cars are expected to decrease 5% to 840,000 units while sales of locally-assembled foreign cars are expected to increase 15% to 150,000 units, Root said.
Russian car sales are expected to increase 6% to $5.5 bn this year, while sales of foreign cars assembled in Russia are expected to amount to $2.2bn.
Imports of new cars are expected to increase 46% to 410,000 units, while imports of second-hand cars are expected to be flat at 320,000 units, Root said, according to Prime-Tass.
Imports of new cars are expected to be worth $10.2 billion, up 36%.
