Mercedes-Benz said it had strengthened its product range in Malaysia with the launch of two new locally-assembled models, the A-Class sedan and GLA SUV, which were in production at the Pekan plant in Pahang state.
This was the first physical launch of Mercedes-Benz cars in the country since the beginning of the pandemic early last year.

The models would be made available initially in two variants, the A200 Progressive and A250 AMG priced at MYR219,888 and RM249,888 (US$53,110-US$60,360), respectively, and the GLA200 Progressive and GLA250 AMG costing MYR242,888 and MYR278,888 (US$58,670-US$67,365).
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia head of sales and marketing, Michael Jopp, said the carmaker was investing in a new logistics hub in Johor in the south of the country to serve other markets in the region as well as the domestic market.
The new distribution centre, located at Senai Airport City, was expected to start operation in 2024 and would be part of Daimler’s global aftersales supply chain network, serving as a spare parts distribution site for 22 countries in the Asia Pacific region.
It would be operated by a newly-established wholly-owned subsidiary company, Mercedes Benz Parts Logistics Asia Pacific (Malaysia).
