Mitsubishi Motors will announce a net profit of more than 10 billion ($US78 million) on Monday, its first profit in three years, the Financial Times (FT) said.
The FT said the news, leaked to Japanese wire service Jiji Press, was understood to have come from within MMC although the company responded that the figures were speculative and not based on any information disclosed by its executives.

The newspaper said the figures would be a considerable reversal for MMC, which forecast in November that it expected only to break even for 2001 after making a loss of 278 billion yen in 2000.
