According to Dow Jones, BMW has confirmed that it is recalling thousands of its new 7-Series cars to check for two possible defects.
The Dow Jones report says that one of the potential defects may affect 8,000 cars made between September and December 2001 and concerns the throttle valve.

A BMW spokesman told Dow Jones that the other potential problem is with the electronic fuel pump and may affect 15,000 cars produced between last October and April this year. Some cars may suffer from both defects.
BMW estimated it has sold 32,000 of the flagship 7-Series model since it was launched last November.
The report says that BMW does not know how much the recall will cost the company, but will be talking with the suppliers of the parts involved about sharing the costs.
