The `Birmingham Post` reports that BMW is preparing to allocate injection-moulding tool work for the R50 project – the Mini – from the UK to Germany.

BMW has demanded that four leading toolmakers and moulders return tools bought by the companies but invoiced to BMW. The manufacturing firms, whose case has now been taken up by the UK`s Gauge and Toolmakers Association, are saying that they will not return the tools until a reason is given by BMW for its actions.
A spokesman for BMW could not comment on the situation until he knew the identities of the firms involved says the article. It is claimed that 400 jobs are now under threat.
