Japanese carmaker Toyota Motors may consider increasing production at its British assembly plant to offset costs. But it warned that this would not overcome the problems the company faced from the strong pound.

Japan’s largest carmaker said utilising spare capacity at its plant at Burnaston, near Derby, would be one method of raising productivity and cutting operating costs.
