Domestic production levels for the first half of the year increased for Honda Motor Co., Mazda Motor Corp. and Toyota Motor Corp., according to Associated Press/ Kyodo News Service (21/7/00).
However, domestic production for Nissan Motor Co. in the first six months of the year fell in comparison to last year, the third consecutive year fall for the company.

In the six-month period between January to June, Toyota increased production to 1,726,000, a rise of 13.1%. Honda increased its production levels to 614,000, an increase of 5.2%, while Mazda registered a 7.8% increase to 419,491 cars.
Nissan recorded a 1.4% decrease in domestic output, to 679,000 vehicles.
