The national automakers federation (Adefa) said 28,861 vehicles were produced in November, an increase of 13.4% compared with the 25,459 made in October. Compared to the 19,403 units produced in the same period of 2003, production was up 48.7%.


Sales also grew. Last month the local automakers sold 26,787 vehicles, an increase of 1.6% over the 26,363 sold in October. November 2004 sales increased 49.6% year on year.


Volkswagen led the market in November, selling 6,048 vehicles for 22.6% market share. Ford followed with 4,453 units (16.6%) and GM was third with 4,331 units sold (16.2%).


Exports were stable month-on-month. Argentinean automakers shipped 16,448 vehicles abroad in November, a decrease of 0.2% compared with the 16,473 units exported in October.


But the year-on-year increase was a huge 115.1% compared with the 7,646 vehicles shipped to foreign markets in November 2003.
