DaimlerChrysler expects to keep staffing levels steady next year after having added some 9,000 jobs around the world in 2004, its personnel chief told a news agency.

“As far as we can tell, we will have a stable employment situation,” Guenther Fleig told Reuters.


After integrating Japanese truckmaker Mitsubishi Fuso, DaimlerChrysler’s workforce has risen to around 386,000, up 24,000 from the end of 2003. It added 1,600 jobs in Germany this year thanks to good demand for trucks and expanded production of A-class compact cars at its Rastatt plant in Baden-Wuerttemberg, the report said, adding that the company now employs around 184,300 staff in Germany.
