The PricewaterhouseCoopers 1998 Global
Automotive Deal Survey is the third such annual compilation of transactions across the
worldwide automotive industry. Released in March, the survey summarizes mergers,
acquisitions, and divestitures among vehicle manufactures, component manufacturers, retail
and distribution and aftermarket entities, and rental and leasing services.
Developed primarily by the firm’s
professionals in the Corporate Finance and Investment Banking groups in the United Kingdom
and the United States, the survey is compiled from publicly available information with the
goal of including all transactions in the automotive sector during 1998. The survey
includes an overview of the industry, which assesses significant trends and key drivers of
corporate merger and acquisition activity. In addition, the transaction activity in each
sector is discussed. Finally, the deals themselves are summarized in tables which present
key information on each transaction.
