Chinese reports indicate BYD fell short of of its 600,000 vehicle sales target last year, having previously slashed its year-end estimates.

Hong Kong media say the Chinese manufacturer sold 519,806 models in 2010, with the 600,000 target itself having originally been trimmed from a former 800,000 total.

Last year BYD said it was deliberately targeting a slow-down in growth as it looked to revise its approach to include the manufacture of larger vehicles.
