General Motors’ Buick brand – best known in the US and China – has released details of its Verano compact luxury sedan, the brand’s third new model in the past two years and first for years in the compact luxury segment, ahead of its Detroit show launch.
The Verano, a variant of the GM Daewoo-designed Chevy Cruze that went into US production in Ohio last month, goes on sale in the fourth quarter of 2011 and luxury and technology will include 10 standard air bags, optional heated steering wheel and a new radio system with OnStar-powered connectivity that enables seamless communication between car and driver’s smart phone.

An I4 Ecotec 2.4-litre engine and six-speed automatic powertrain combination is standard while a two-litre turbo will be offered in future.
Buick is targeting competitors such as the Audi A4 and Lexus IS250.
