Audi chose Detroit to unveil its all-new A6 not because it is particularly targeting North America but because it was the next available show.
“With so many products coming through it was just the next show we could launch the A6 at,” said an Audi insider.

The international media launch for A6 starts from next month with sales from mid-year in most of Europe and May in the UK.
One surprise was the appearance of a hybrid version, aimed at non-diesel markets. The 211PS, 2.0-litre turbo hybrid uses the same powertrain as the Q5 hybrid; this hybrid power will also appear in the A8 in the US later this year and could be considered for Germany.
Meanwhile, the company reports that A1 sales in the UK are going well; the company expects to take delivery of 18,000 A1s this year with 8,000 of those already sold.
