Japanese media reports are suggesting Nissan has only delivered 60 Leaf vehicles in the country out of a 6,000-strong order book to March, although the automaker is refuting any claims its deliveries were delayed.
“We have to make sure that everything is 100% safe and sure,” Nissan spokesman Mitsuru Yonekawa is quoted as saying in the Japanese media.

“This is the first time we have mass-produced an electric vehicle so we need to be very careful. We are not delayed or behind schedule,” he added, noting Nissan would increase production to meet its 6,000 units target by 31 March.
Yonekawa also noted it was taking some time for buyers to go through the process to obtain government subsidies.
