Ford plans to build engines in India for some of its new models that will be introduced in that country in the next few years, a senior executive said.
Ford India also plans to increase its engine exports to Thailand, its manufacturing hub for the Southeast Asian market, president Michael Boneham told Dow Jones Newswires.

“We have defined India as the hub for low-displacement, fuel-efficient gasoline and diesel engines for local needs as well as the Asia Pacific and African region,” Boneham said.
The company currently has an engine manufacturing plant in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu, with a manufacturing capacity of 250,000 units a year.
