Blog: Dave LeggettWe're making news in SA today

I spoke earlier today to a South African journalist called Max Matavire who works on the Herald newspaper in Port Elizabeth about a news item that we recently ran concerning Volkswagen plans to make buses and trucks in South Africa - buses to start. It's a sizeable investment and therefore big news down there, but the local VW people have been coy about confirming the story. It comes from our man Rogerio Louro in Brazil where VW has major commercial vehicle making operations that are little known outside South America (including the manufacture of heavy duty tractor units than can handle up to 42 tonnes Gross Vehicle Weight - GVW; they don't get much heavier duty than that, on road anyway).
