Blog: Dave LeggettValeo results

Valeo's results for 2003 look pretty good overall and Thierry Morin deserves a bit of a pat on the back for the turnaround that is proceeding largely according to plan. Costs are coming down, Valeo looks well positioned in Asia and there are some innovative Valeo products - like the blind-spot detection system developed with Raytheon - coming to market. But, putting the problems of the electrical systems unit to one side, can Valeo really break into the US in a big way? When I met with Mr Morin last year he had some striking things to say about the difficulties of the US Big Three and how a company like Valeo could help them to improve and better differentiate their products. Something to keep an eye on this year.
