Well, I guess US Audi boss Axel Mees is basically guilty of being honest and speaking his mind. Commendable qualities in most circumstances perhaps. Except that when you're in his (former) position, you do have to be a bit careful about what you say, especially at a press conference. And within the Volkswagen Group, dissing Ferdy is a bit like a man of the cloth saying bad things about Jesus. But he must have echoed the thoughts of many within Audi and Volkswagen. And the costly extravagance and marketing blunder that is Phaeton is clearly a raw nerve. Rumours that production will soon be, effectively, ended continue to circulate.
