My ears pricked up this morning at the news of a suicide bombing in Istanbul, Turkey. It renews security concerns about Turkey that have been bubbling under the surface since the bombing last November of the British consulate and HSBC bank in Instanbul (some 23 people were killed). I was recently talking to Les Parfitt at the SMMT about a possible visit to Turkey this autumn (that's 'fall' if you're American). I'm quite keen to take a look at the development of the auto industry there - there's a big European export story as well as a local market with considerable potential. But the security situation will be something to keep an eye on in the coming months.
