It is being reported that Toyota is close to ordering its staff in Beijing to leave the city due to the growing seriousness of the SARS outbreak there. If that decision comes, other car companies with expat staffers in Beijing will be sure to follow. Shanghai next? The WHO is now advising against travel to Beijing and also Toronto, where there have been quite a few SARS cases. Nasty business. I gather the Canadians are unhappy about having their commercial capital declared a SARS hotspot to be avoided. Why take chances though?
