Blog: Simon WarburtonNoise troubles for Nissan Leaf

Simon Warburton | 3 March 2011

It appears there's a slight hiccup with one aspect of Nissan's much-trumpeted Leaf due to hit UK roads imminently.

The electric car appears to have fallen foul of UK noise regulations which prohibit audible warning systems - common on buses and lorries reversing - being operated between 23:00 and 06:00.

Apparently a driver can't switch the low-speed noise generating system off so so it will be modified.

And those talks about Nissan raising the UK price already? A source in Geneva this week said it was due to the high value of the Japanese yen.

It seems the start of Leaf manufacture in Nissan's Sunderland plant can't come soon enough.
