They seem to be doing okay in India. From an auto industry perspective, it's becoming an increasingly important location. The plus side is formidable. It already has a sizeable domestic market which is growing. But the size of the population means there is a lot more demand to be tapped in the future. And it is a low-cost manufacturing location, boasting a good skill base and a can-do mentality in business. Those guys are ultra competitive (talk to anyone in components who regularly gets quotes from Indian firms on international RFQs). Fiat India's lead could be followed by others.
