Cutting average emissions on new vehicles in the US by 30% as soon as 2016 is going some. At least I'd have thought so. I can only assume that the vehicle manufacturers' apparent compliance is an indication that it is eminently manageable. It's certainly something of a landmark announcement that Obama will be making and an indication of how quickly the automotive market landscape is changing in America.

And it must be good news for purveyors of hybrids. Here's a thought though: what about diesels? Is that slow train coming or still stopped in its tracks...
