Blog: Dave LeggettBMW 7 facing early revision

It's a tough call for designers. A little like being called to fix something that ain't fundamentally broke. How far do you tinker with an evolutionary design concept? How radical can you be when replacing something that evokes such a firm image in people's minds? If one of the brand attributes is 'classic' lines that hold their value when the model is replaced, it's even more difficult. BMW's big conservative constituency has apparently spoken on the controversially-styled 7 Series. They don't want 'radical' if that really is the right word. But bringing forward a facelift - if this is true - also costs the company money. Will that same BMW conservative constituency rebel over the 5?
