Hyundai Motor plans to start volume production of the i30 hatchback at its new plant in the Czech Republic from next month.

The production start at the EUR1.1bn plant in Nosovice is three months earlier than originally scheduled.

"If mass production begins, sales of i30 in Europe will surge," a Hyundai Motor official said.

Affiliate Kia already produces the Ceed line, which shares its platform with the i30, at a plant in Slovakia.
