Hyundai Motor America is to extend its industry-leading five-year warranty to the end of 2010, having covered over 2.75m vehicles to date.

Claimed COO Steve Wilhite: "Ten-year warranty coverage is only possible because of the extremely high quality standards Hyundai has achieved, and we're excited to offer new owners this benefit for at least the next four years."

The warranty cover includes 10-year, 100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, five-year, 60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper protection, seven-year, unlimited mileage anti-perforation coverage and 24-hour roadside assistance coverage at no extra charge for five years (no mileage limit).

Hyundai launched a five-year full-cover warranty in the UK. where three years is the industry norm, in 2002. At the time, some aspects of this cover were superior to the US package.
