SOUTH KOREA: Hyundai to launch coupe-cabriolet model

Hyundai has confirmed a coupe-cabriolet version of its Coupe will go into production "before 2007".

The production version of the CCS - Coupe Concept Study shown recently at motor shows around the world - will have a unique roof mechanism engineered by Karmann.

This system will allow the driver to transform the car from a glass-roofed coupe to a convertible at the touch of a switch. If weather conditions are changeable the driver can opt for an intermediate configuration where the central glass panel slides beneath the rear window.

Hyundai said the car's first showing at the Frankfurt motor show in September prompted "a stack of e-mails" from potential customers eager to buy the car.

Peugeot and Renault have recently launched coupe-cabriolet versions of their 307 and Megane models.
