Suzuki returns to Malaysia with Naza group

Suzuki Motor Corporation has signed a new distribution agreement with Malaysia's Naza Group after an absence of almost six years from this market, according to local reports.

Naza Group confirmed it had appointed its Naza Eastern Motors subsidiary to take charge of Suzuki sales and aftersales operations of new generation models.

Suzuki's previous Malaysian distributor was DRB-Hicom which also assembled the Swift hatchback at a plant in Pekan in Pahang state.

DRB-Hicom halted Suzuki sales in 2015 under a restructuring plan and the brand's 29 dealers converted to Proton Edar outlets.

Naza Corporation Holdings CEO SM Nasimuddin said in a statement: "It brings us great honour to be able to work with a Japanese automotive giant that successfully captured the hearts of Malaysian consumers during its years in the market."

The first Suzuki outlet will be a flagship 3S sales and service facility located in the Naza Automall in Petaling Jaya with the first model expected to be launched this month.
