US: GM to lay off 100 additional workers at Lansing Grand River

By Graeme Roberts | 9 December 2014

General Motors plans to lay off - temporarily - another 100 employees at its Lansing Grand River assembly plant, Lansing State Journal reported. The company had earlier said it would dismiss 350 workers.

The additional employees will be laid off when GM cuts the plant's second shift in January 2015.

The company said the redundancies would be temporary with the shift restored when production of the next generation Chevrolet Camaro is shifted from Canada.

Of the laid off employees most will be new hires though around 200 will be transferred to the Lansing Delta Township assembly plant.
