MOROCCO: Second line taking Dacia plant to 340,000 units

By Graeme Roberts | 8 October 2013

The second production line at Renault-Nissan’s Tangier plant in Morocco was officially inaugurated on Tuesday (8 October, 2013).

The new line will increase the plant's capacity to 340,000 vehicles a year, starting in 2014. The EUR400m line will produce the Dacia Sandero and Stepway.

This makes the plant the largest in Africa.

About 1,400 people have been recruited for the new line, taking the plant’s total workforce to 5,000. Morocco’s Institute for Training Automotive Industry Professionals, IFMIA, is helping train both new recruits and existing staff.

The plant was opened on 9 February, 2012.
