Redesigned Rio was Kia's most popular export in October

Kia Motors sold 216,603 vehicles during October, a year-on-year increase of 18.8%, posting strong double digit increases in many of its major sales regions.

Sales rose 41.4% in China to 44,009 units, 35.4% in Europe to 45,810 and 20.1% in North America to 42,870.

But domestic sales in South Korea were off 4.3% to 41,302 units.

Through the first 10 months of 2011, Kia’s global sales have increased 18.2% year-on-year to 2,044,225 units. North America has experienced the highest gain to date, up 33.5% to 461,945.

Best selling model in overseas markets in October was the newly redesigned B-segment Rio (K2 in China) with 33,797 sales. The Sportage compact SUV was next with 30,622 units delivered.

Thomas Oh, Kia's COO, said: “The new global brand campaign, ‘Inspired by What You Like’ is now gaining traction in major markets around the world, we look forward to closing out the year with strong momentum for the brand.”
