CHINA: Toyota plant back at work after parts strike

By just-auto.com editorial team | 28 June 2010

Toyota Motor resumed production at its factory in Guangzhou, China, on Monday after a key parts affiliate fully restarted its plant in the same area following a strike there, automaker officials said.

The Guangzhou factory was affected for most of last week by a dispute at Denso's local factory, at which the strike began on Monday and ended on Friday after an agreement between the management and workers, a Denso spokesman said.

Toyota halted operations on Tuesday at Guangzhou plant, which makes four models including the Camry, because it could not obtain parts linked to its electric control system.

Production of 4,700 cars was affected but a spokesman told Kyodo News the automaker was considering ways to recover the losses in production.
