German auto maker has been fined a record 90m euro ($86m/£57m) for anti-competitive behaviour.

The fine, imposed by the European Commission, originally totalled 102m euro, but the European Court of Justice cut the amount to today`s figure.

The penalty was in response to VW preventing both German and Austrian customers from buying their cars in Italy, where prices for VW cars are said to be lower.

VW said it is considering an appeal.
