VW says that 'Volkswagen Brand China' has become the first ever automaker to deliver three million cars to customers in a single market in just one year. Commenting on this milestone, Stephan Wöllenstein, CEO of Volkswagen China Passenger Cars Brand, said: "We are honoured that more than three million Chinese individual car buyers have placed their trust in us during 2017, by choosing a Volkswagen."

"First of all, I would like to thank each and every one of our customers and welcome them to the Volkswagen family," added Wöllenstein. "China continues to develop at a tremendous pace, as does Volkswagen Brand. So while our fascinating sedan models remain popular, we see an ever growing interest in our SUVs: the Tiguan, Touareg and Teramont. I can promise there is more to come in 2018, Volkswagen's Year of the SUV. Our ambitions do not stop with this. In the coming electric era, Volkswagen wants to serve Chinese car buyers with attractive, well-designed, high quality, emotional electric vehicles."
