China's vehicle imports more than doubled on year in the first four months of 2003, driven by surging domestic market for new vehicles, Dow Jones reported, citing state media reports. In the January-April period, imports of whole vehicles totalled 61,100 units, or $US1.59 billion in value terms, the reports said, according to Dow Jones. Both figures were more than twice the levels recorded in the same period of 2002.
