Toyota Motor Europe (TME) is to participate in a joint project with Evelop Belgium, a subsidiary of Dutch energy group, Eneco, to install wind turbines on the grounds of TME's Vehicle Logistics Centre in Belgium.

As part of the project, TME will lease to Evelop Belgium a portion of the Vehicle Logistics Centre's grounds for the installment of two wind turbines, expected to start operation in early 2013. Each turbine will generate approximately 3 MW, with an annual combined capacity of approximately 17.1 GWh.

Today's announcement is one of a series of TME environmental activities that include the 'Sustainable Dealer Project2' aimed at 'greening around 3,000 Toyota dealers in Europe, as well as the large-scale installation of solar panels at Toyota Parts Centre Europe, TME's parts logistics centre, in 2010.

Toyota also recently announced it would harvest solar power at Toyota Motor Manufacturing (UK), planned to start at the end of July.
