Toyota GB has upgraded the specification of its 1.3-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel Yaris SR including a unique Toyota-branded touch-screen TomTom satellite navigation/audio system which is both built-in and fully portable.

The system also has Bluetooth connectivity and USB connection for MP3 players.

A Toyota GB spokesman said Netherlands-based TomTom developed the bespoke system in conjunction with Toyota Motor Europe in Belgium.

The unit is installed in a double-DIN opening in the modified centre stack; a similar fitting is used for the OEM audio systems available for Yaris models sold in North America while other European Yaris models have different factory-fitted audio units or a combined monochrome-screen navigator/audio system.

Toyota said the removable TomTom satellite navigation unit is both a first in the B segment and exclusive to the brand.

The SR specification upgrade also adds Toyota Motorsport 16-inch 'Pit Lane' alloy wheels and lowered sports suspension, rear roof spoiler, chrome exhaust finisher, brushed alloy gearshift knob (on manual versions; an automated manual transmission is optional) and front scuff plates

The UK on-the-road price is GBP350 more than the equivalent T3 version and Toyota claims the extra equipment "represents £1,100 extra value".

Nine airbags, electric front windows, remote central double locking, air conditioning, front fog lamps and one-touch 'Easy Flat' folding rear seat system are also standard.
