- 29 September 2000 - Firestone now faces competition from French tire maker, Michelin, as The Ford Motor Company plans to let customers choose their tire brand on the 2002 Explorer SUV.

The report by Reuters at /news_detail.asp?art=14903 says that Ford has signed a contract with Michelin for it to supply tires for the Explorer.
