Italian partsmaker Sogefi has bought rival Mark IV Systemes Moteurs in a deal giving the French company an enterprise value of EUR150m (US$215m).

Analysts told Reuters this was a positive deal for Sogefi which had been talking about the acquisition for a long time. It will increase synergies, especially in France.

Sogefi, which specialises in filters and suspension components, said the deal with Mark IV would boost its total pro-forma revenue for 2011 to around EUR1.3bn (US$1.85bn). In 2010 Sogefi's revenue was EUR925m ($1.3bn).

Mark IV's revenue was EUR270m ($384m) in 2010. Sogefi chairman Rodolfo De Benedetti said in a statement: "This deal continues a 30-year history of technological development, operational efficiency and expansion into new markets. We will continue to follow this route in the future too."

Mark IV Systemes Moteurs has seven production plants including three in France with 1,200 employees worldwide.
