Skoda is considering adding a third shift in the paintshop at its Kvasiny plant to increase daily throughput to 320 bodies per day and expand capacity for the Roomster, reports Automobilwoche.

At the moment the capacity of the paintshop is just 200 bodies a day with two shifts.

The Roomster, shown as a design study in 2003, uses elements of the VW A and AO platforms (Octavia and Fabia), and is expected to go on sale in Europe in September 2006.

Skoda is also considering that it may need more capacity for a de-contented version of the Fabia sedan to compete with the Logan. If it proves to be viable, a low-cost Fabia could go on sale in India from the middle of next year, reports the newspaper.
