Renault has alerted media to the pending launch of its first pickup truck, in Argentina.

The truck launches at the Buenos Aires show on 18 June.

It's Dacia-based "sport utility pickup" will, the automaker claimed, inherit "all the qualities behind the success of Duster" and "features a real double cab with four doors, five seats and a generous bed".

"This pick-up marks a real breakthrough in this territory," Renault claimed.

According to just-auto's PLDB, the Duster pickup is expected to be built in Brazil at the Curatiba/São José dos Pinhais (Paraná state) plant for Latin America. The Duster Oroch, a five seat concept, previewed the production model when it was revealed at the Sao Paulo motor show in October 2014.

The South American truck will follow Romanian build of 500 units of a smaller Dacia version during 2014 in collaboration with local coachbuilder Romturingia.
