The Czech Republic saw new car registrations climb 1.37% in the first half of the year, compared to the same period in 2005.

Combined passenger car and light utility vehicle registrations reached 85,469, the association said.

Growth in the period was led by light utility vehicles, which grew 32.76% to 22,960. However, this was offset by a 6.86% fall in passenger car registrations, to 62,509 units.

SDA figures showed that Skoda was the market leader with 41.08%. Renault held second position with a 6.55% share. Volkswagen with 6.38% and Hyundai with 5.47% followed.
