Cadillac and Opel are back in two new Hong Kong showrooms after a two-year absence.

"Resuming import sales in Hong Kong has been a strategic priority," said George Green, director of sales, marketing and aftersales for GM China Group. "We are glad to be back."

GM was temporarily out of Hong Kong because of difficulties encountered by its previous distributor. The company has now signed Forefront International as the exclusive distributor of new Cadillac, Opel and and Saab vehicles.

Cadillac, known as a top luxury brand in Hong Kong, is limited in the territory by its availability of right-hand-drive models. This is expected to be addressed in a range of new models being produced under the new "Art and Science" design philosophy.

Forefront's new showroom in the trendy Causeway Bay district of Hong Kong opened earlier this month. It features Cadillac and Saab products - the second location in the Asia Pacific region after Korea to jointly market GM's luxury brands under one roof.

The first showroom for Opel products opened on March 27 in Kowloon.

"We intend to offer home test-drives and launch brand centers featuring the latest virtual reality equipment," Green said.

"This will allow customers to experience our Cadillac and Saab products in premium surroundings and away from the traditional showroom environment."
