Magna International reportedly is in talks to build a joint battery plant for electric cars with Mitsubishi Motors.

Austrian business daily WirtschaftsBlatt, said Magna may strike a deal with Mitsubishi within the next two weeks and would then make a decision about where to build the factory. The paper did not say where it got the information.

Magna made no comment on the story although chief executive Siegfried Wolf has previously said the group was seeking two locations in Europe and the US to produce batteries for electric vehicles.

The Canadian parts maker formed a new business earlier this year to focus on electric cars and produce complete vehicles as well as battery units.
