Hyundai Mobis is to begin the production of parts for the hybrid version of Hyundai Motor's Avante, according to local reports.

Citing a press release, the Korean Herald said that the car would be launched in 2009 but that Mobis would begin an initial production of parts in December this year. Mass production of parts would begin in May 2009.

The Korean company said it plans to build a factory that will be dedicated to producing parts for hybrid cars before a hybrid version of the mid-sized sedan Sonata goes into production in 2010.

The Herald also reported that going forward, the company will focus on developing the motor and the integrated package module for hybrid vehicles. It will invest 100bn won (US$69.5m) by 2012 in hybrid-related areas.
