The first luxury Sports Utility Vehicle to be built in Canada rolled off the assembly line today. The all-new Acura MDX, created as a no-compromise SUV, is powered by a 240-horsepower 3.5-Litre V6 engine. Combining best in class acceleration and efficiency, the MDX is the first Sports Utility Vehicle capable of meeting the ULEV (Ultra Low Emission Vehicle) standards.

Honda's facilities in Alliston employ Honda's "New Manufacturing System" that improves efficiency and flexibility within the manufacturing process, while at the same time, improves the quality and working environment. This system reduces investment in new tooling at model change over time and compresses the time needed for new model development. The impressive "General Welder", with its highly flexible and reprogrammable welding robots, only hints at the new flexibility that this system provides.
