Honda's Chinese joint venture - Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co Ltd - is to recall over 400,000 vehicles in China due to suspension part defects.

China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a statement that the recall is due to 'piston rod defects' that could lead to the fracture in shock absorber piston rods. The recall affects a total of 408,069 CR-V models produced between March 2, 2010 and August 30, 2012.

Some reports suggest that Honda in China is blaming a supplier for the part defect.

The latest JV product recall in China follows a number by foreign joint ventures in China in recent months.
